About Program

Mathematical models inform decisions in industry, government, and within economics. Our course combines both pure and application-driven mathematics. By the time you finish your degree, you will be able to use maths to solve practical problems. You'll explore the relationship between mathematical modelling and economics. You'll also examine how societies attempt to make the best use of their scarce resources. You'll combine core economic skills with current and fast-changing theories around financial markets. We give you the knowledge and techniques you need for more specialised careers in financial economics, research and forecasting or a future in business management, finance, banking and accountancy. Advising on investment, production and prices are decisions that people might associate with economists, but they are increasingly asked to advise on: policies to address climate change policies to address inequality policies to improve the National Health Service many other issues including; marriage, religion, civil war, football hooliganism Our course focuses specifically on the macroeconomic challenges of national, regional and global economies together with the microeconomic behaviour of people and businesses. Our Investment Society organises annual speakers and employer workshops. You will also be able to join DUMaS (Dundee University Maths Society), an active society open to all students studying mathematics.
